PENN Spinfisher SSV (commonly referred to as the Spinfisher V) is the fifth-generation model in PENN's legendary saltwater spinning reel series. Renowned for introducing a water-tight design to the lineup, it features a heavy-duty full metal construction engineered to withstand harsh surf and offshore environments. While it has been succeeded by newer generations like the Spinfisher VII, the SSV remains a highly reliable choice for anglers targeting hard-fighting saltwater species.

  • Full Metal Housing: Built with a heavy-duty aluminum body, sideplate, and rotor. Keeps the internal zinc and brass gears perfectly aligned under heavy loads.
  • Braid-Ready Spool: Includes a rubber gasket on the spool core to tie braided line directly without backing. Features line capacity rings at 1/3, 2/3, and full benchmarks.
  • Gear Ratios & Sizes: Available in sizes ranging from the compact 3500 up to the massive 10500 tuna model. Ratios span from a fast 6.2:1 to a high-torque 4.2:1.
